This, this is my angry face. There was a problem with the save of the latest page, and I’m going to have to spend several hours making it able to go up. There will be a page up Weds tho. I’ll re-do things after I get home from work.
BUT! I am not empty handed! A little bit ago I went to see another Comic Artists Sketch Night at the Opera. This time it was Lucia del Lammermoor, which was great! While Silent Night holds my favorite for story this season, this one was my favorite for the music, hands down, and had some really lovely spare art direction.
Here are some of my sketches from the opera:

The first half of the opera was your basic “girl pining for forbiden love” kind of deal, but the second half veered off into a more horror movie tone, as you can see sketches, and culminated in Luccia loosing her mind. The lighting design was particularly inspiring to draw- lots of big, dramatic shadows! Soon I’ll post links to some of the other artists who attended. The female lead had the most astonishing female voice I have ever heard. It gave me absolute chills. A lot of us had trouble getting much drawn in the whole second half of the opera because of it. Every time she would sing I’d just be transfixed. All I wanted to do was listen to the opera. If you live in MN, you really should consider going to see some of the operas the Ordway puts on.
